The White Stripes Suck(s?)

Man, how did this band get to play on the Grammys? There's a reason there are only two members - the drummer can't keep a beat. I'm sure every other musician they've ever tried to recruit has left in frustration. Jack White sings like a banshee while making his guitar sound like it's being whacked with a dead fish. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Stop it. That really hurts! Please, God, make the White Stripes go away...

In the Reading Queue

Every time I visit Chapters I'm tempted to leave with YANB (Yet Another New Book). What am I saying?! I usually leave with YANB. Well, I've decided to finish reading the books that are queued up on my bookshelf before I buy another. That's difficult to do because my interest streams are constantly in flux, but I'm going to do my best to stick to my guns. For my reference, here's a list of the current queue.

A Deepness in the Sky, Vernor Vinge
Dr. Deming: The American Who Taught the Japanese about Quality, Rafael Aguayo
Cosmic Trilogy, C. S. Lewis
Prelude to Foundation, Isaac Asimov
IBM and the Holocaust, Edwin Black
The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order, Samuel Huntington
Three Roads to Quantum Gravity, Lee Smolin
Flatland / Sphereland, Abbott, Burger
Master Handbook of Acoustics, F. Alton Everest
Consilience - The Unity of Knowledge, Edward O. Wilson
The Complete Far Side - Volume Two, Gary Larson
Secrets and Lies - Digital Security in a Networked World, Bruce Schneier
The Reformation, Owen Chadwick

Thankfully the list isn't too long, although I have a few business books on the office bookshelf that I'll have to add to this list. I should be able to start purchasing new books again pretty soon!

I've started on the list by reading "Secrets and Lies" first.

Dummy Text

My wife doesn't like looking at the picture of Robert Smith, so I'm inserting some dummy text to make the picture scroll off the page. I know, I should just post a few more entries, but I don't really have anything to say at the moment. (I know, I know, I could also just remove the picture, but I don' t want to do that. Just humour me here.)

"The Onion" Has Been Spying On Me

This article from "The Onion" pretty much sums up how I handle writing tasks, or anything that requires a long stretch of my attention. I think they've been spying on me.

You Know You're Getting Old When...

I was watching VH1's "Top 80 of the 80's" when Christopher (my 3 1/2 year-old) caught a glimpse of Robert Smith of The Cure. He cracked up laughing like he had seen a clown. (He thought Aimee Mann of 'Til Tuesday was pretty funny too.)
